Summary - Week 1 : 02-08 February

Initial planning stage. We came up with the first draft of the plot based on Plato’s allegory of the cave. We then tested different styles and techniques for the 3D animation including black and white minimal style. We decided to add a shade of grey to add depth to the animation. We also tested using green screening to film silhouettes in place of character models. Also began testing boujou and other matchmoving software to allow us to move the camera in the green screened room and translate the camera movement directly into Cinema 4d movements We felt this would allow a smoother transition between the 3D and live action sections of the animation. First drafts of storyboards were created along with character sketches in order to develop the story and visual style and ensure that all team members had a singular vision of the project. We met with Declan Tuite to discuss the project and he gave us valuable feedback on several aspects of the project from visual style, story development to the soundtrack and character animation.

(Few days late on this one, will try to post up on mondays from now on)
