This week we went out to the Bray location and filmed some test footage and planned out some shots. We also discovered several other areas nearby that fit perfectly into our required scenes. We hope to abandon our original plan of filming over several locations as it is much more convenient to film in one and we were generally happy with the area.
We also adapted the plot for the external scenes to span over a day to night period. This approach allowed us to show the progression of time while making filming less restricted by filming at night restrictions.
We asked Eoin Campbell and Damien Hickey for advice on several technical aspects of the project and they were very helpful. From our conversations with them we learned about Net Rendering and realised that we needed to go back to Release 9.6 of Cinema 4D for the sake of inter-compatibility. We also asked them about lighting without main power and realised that we would need to acquire a generator.
We met with our first supervisor Chi Sui to give her an overview of the project and she gave us advice which matched quite closely with advice Declan Tuite had given us regarding the transition between the two worlds. Both felt that we had to ensure that there was a clear difference between the two in style.
Although we had built up relevant academic resources as we came up with the script we now began to look at previous theses and form a layout of how we would approach the research aspect of the project.
