Week 8: March 23rd-29th

This week we finally set about filming. We were on location on Bray Head. Filming started at 11am on Monday morning until 8pm that night. Our actor came out to meet us on location.

Because of the change in light in the story we had to film for most of the day to get dusk and night shots as well. It was really difficult to get shots at dusk because the light dims so quickly. As for the shots at night, these were very dull.

Each evening after shooting/ morning before James, Aislinn, Sean and Conor went through the footage, logged and named it. This was helpful because we knew where we stood- what needed to be re-shot and what had worked the previous day.

It was very difficult to film at night. We hired a generator to power lights for evening shots but this was heavy and impractical and the lights lit the scene synthetically. We decided to film the night shots at dusk and to darken them in post. This gave us a really short period to film within. It was really easy to miss this period as the camera detects low light a lot quicker than the human eye.

We shot from Monday to Thursday.
